Denys is a much sought-after multidisciplinary partner for the most complex construction projects and infrastructure works. Denys works with more than 1800 people on international projects. Innovation is one of the three growth pillars. Innovation with an integrated approach, as a total company with multiple disciplines; water, energy, mobility, engineering, restoration and special techniques. Verification is essential for controlling their projects. They work with KE-chain to streamline the verification process in the implementation of their projects. Tim Janssen and Eelco van der Pal are happy to tell us more about how KE-chain helps them with projects for Gasunie.
Verification and validation
Tim, work planner at Denys, simply explains how it works: “We have a set of requirements from the client’s point of view; customer requirements, supplemented with requirements from, for example, permits and the environment. That will be the set of requirements for which you need evidence to demonstrate that we meet them. This could be, for example, a checklist with evidence such as photos. The challenge is to efficiently collect the correct evidence. ”

Eelco is an engineer at Denys and responsible for translating the design that is available at tendering into the result that is delivered to the client. Eelco: “From our experience we know that proper preparation of the verification and validation process is of great importance. What we strive for is to link collected evidence directly to the requirements. The challenge was, how can we do that most efficiently and in a user-friendly way? KE-chain plays an important role in this. ”
Tim: “We worked a lot with paper checklists. Many steps were required for the verification, which took a relatively long time. Because we wanted to do that more efficiently, we started with KE-chain. The evidence is now an inspection in KE chain. The great thing about this is that the information is available in real time. The entire process is now digitized and much more automated. ”

Eelco: “The information is now also immediately available and transparent for the client. We can inform the client much better via the reports from KE-chain. For example, it is easier to demonstrate that we have verified and validated the requirements on time. We also get this back in conversations with the client. ”
Setup with KE-chain
When we ask Tim about the design of KE-chain, he is very enthusiastic; “Setting up the KE chain is going well. The system works very easily. The trick is that the checklist matches what you want to get out of it. Drawing up the checklist is essential. KE-chain helps me a lot because there are many different ways to make your checklist. I can choose how I want to record it. With KE-chain I can make exactly the inspections we need. ”

What they are most enthusiastic about, Tim knows the answer: “That the information is real-time. You have direct access to all forms and everything is immediately visible. We could now complete the verification when the contractor gets into the car. ”

Eelco: “A big plus of KE-chain is that our people find it simple to use in the implementation. Our people with little experience with a computer or tablet also have no problem with it. ” That is also the most important thing for Eelco: “That it also works well outside and that we can demonstrate that we meet the requirements without many additional actions”.
