Case: KLO

KLO is a partnership of excavation contractors, network operators and subsoil managers.

A place for the excavation chain to cooperate digitally in the prevention of excavation damage

Infra, Compliance

To support all parties in the excavation chain in complying with the CROW 500 regulations, KLO (the excavation chain) has developed a KE-chain app that takes the user in the various roles through the entire CROW 500 process from initiative to evaluation.

CROW500 proof with the KLO app

From 1 January 2017, all parties must work in accordance with the ‘Guideline for careful excavation from initiative to use phase’, the CROW 500. To encourage compliance with the guideline, KLO organized a seminar on 11 November 2019. During this seminar, the regulator Agentschap Telecom set 1-1-2022 as a new deadline to comply with the guideline. Nevertheless, the number of excavation damage has again increased substantially in 2020. Compliance with the directive still leaves much to be desired.

To support all parties in the excavation chain in complying with the regulations, KLO (the excavation chain) has developed an app that takes the user through the various roles in the entire CROW 500 process from initiative to evaluation. They have done this development together with the KE-chain team.

The prototype of the C5P app has now been tested. The pilot phase will start soon and will run until the end of this year. In this phase, the C5P app will be tested in practice and further improved to be made available to the excavation chain on January 1, 2022. We are still asking participants for the pilot phase starting in May. Municipalities, network operators and excavators are invited to participate. You can register via info@kabelenleidingoverleg.nl.
